While using multiple cloud services, there can often be a necessity to transfer files. No cloud service provider wants you to leave their platform. Thus, moving files from one cloud platform to another may seem to be a challenging task in the absence of in-house file transfer functionality.

Use a Cloud Transfer Service

A dedicated cloud transfer service will facilitate faster file transfers among different cloud services, and comes with a web-based interface. It can be accessed from any browser and any device. It supports Box, Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, Amazon S3, pCloud, Google Photos, Google Workspace, OneDrive for Business, Dropbox Business, etc.

Steps

  1. Visit a safe & reliable website that offers cloud files transfer service, and create your account.
  2. Click on the Home tab.
  3. Add your cloud account (Box, Google Drive, Dropbox, and OneDrive). You’ll be redirected to each cloud provider’s sign-in page. You’ll also need to approve the drive access permissions.
  4. Once you’ve added all of your drives, they will appear under the “My Cloud Drives” section of the Home tab.
  5. Click on the Operations tab, and set Box as the Source Drive.
  6. Set another cloud (Google Drive, Dropbox, and OneDrive) as your Target Drive.
  7. Select the folders in your source drive (Box) you want to move.
  8. Select a destination folder in the target drive (Google Drive, Dropbox, and OneDrive).
  9. Click on Transfer Now.

Do cloud files transferring services offer an online storage?

No, your cloud file transfer service facilitates instant transfer of files among different cloud accounts. It doesn’t offer you an online storage to store new files.

Can I schedule my file transfers?

Many cloud file transfer service provide an automated transfer functionality. You can schedule transfer tasks to run at a specific timeframe of your choice (for example, daily, weekly, monthly, etc.)

How long does the file transfer take?

The actual transfer speed depends on different factors. Since no files need to be downloaded to your PC or re-uploaded, the transfer process takes little time.

Can I close the browser during file transfers?

Closing the browser will not stop the file transfer process. You can also schedule the transfers at your convenient date-time.

Is it free to transfer files using an online service?

It depends from service to service. Many services offer a free quota with limited bandwidth for free.

Manual Method

The manual method involves downloading files from one platform and uploading them to another. While this method is free and there is no need to pay for any service, it can be slow and tedious. Make sure that you’re connected to high-speed and stable Wi-Fi.

Steps

  1. Sign in to your Box account.
  2. Click on the “All Files” tab on the left.
  3. Check the files/ folders you want to download.
  4. Click on the ‘Download” icon.
  5. Box will create an archive of your files/ folders. Once it is downloaded, open it using the free 7-Zip file Manager tool.
  6. Extract the contents of your archive into a temporary folder on your Desktop (in this example, “my files”)
  7. Sign-in to your destination cloud platform (Google Drive, Dropbox or OneDrive).
  8. Click on the “Upload” icon.
  9. Select the files/ folders from the “my files” folder, and click on the Open button.

  • Time-consuming. A slow or unstable Internet may result in additional delays
